Are you offering any end-of-summer support now that you are open again?
Yes! We’re excited to offer our Summer at The Hub 2024 program. As schools prepare to reopen in September, we’re here to help students smoothly transition back into their academic routine. Our program takes a gentle approach, reviewing COVID-19 protocols likely to be in place at schools while also addressing the 'summer slide.' We focus on bridging the gap between the grade your child just completed and the new one they are starting. Please contact us directly for more information!
How does The Learning Hub Academy help me as a parent?
At The Learning Hub Academy, we view parents as essential partners in the learning process. We believe in a collaborative approach, working closely with you, your child, and even their school if needed. We understand that schoolwork can sometimes be stressful, and we’re here to help ease that burden. Our team builds strong relationships with students, providing a supportive environment outside of the home, so you can feel confident that your child is getting the help they need to succeed.
What is the right age for students to attend The Learning Hub Academy, and how often should they attend?
We welcome students from Early Learners (age 4+) through to Grade 12. If you feel your child needs additional support, please reach out to us. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs, including one-hour sessions twice a week for younger students and two-hour sessions for older students focused on Language and Math. We're here to tailor our programs to best support your child’s learning journey, so feel free to discuss your specific requirements with us.
I feel my child is falling behind in school. Can The Learning Hub Academy help?
Absolutely. Our teachers are here to discuss your concerns and assess how The Learning Hub Academy can best support your child’s needs. With your permission, we’re also happy to connect with your child’s school to ensure a coordinated approach to their academic progress.
How is The Learning Hub Academy different from a tutor?
At The Learning Hub Academy, our teachers go beyond traditional tutoring by fostering a Growth Mindset in your child, encouraging them to take risks and build confidence. We focus on developing an "I CAN" attitude during sessions, which is crucial for academic success. Unlike typical tutoring, our teachers serve as facilitators, providing instruction and guidance while empowering students to work toward independence, laying the foundation for strong work habits. Additionally, we understand the importance of maintaining energy and focus, so we offer a healthy snack option to keep your child's brain refreshed and engaged.
Will my child get bored in school after advancing with The Learning Hub Academy?
“Boredom is in the eye of the beholder.” At The Learning Hub Academy, we believe students should take charge of their own learning. By encouraging them to push beyond basic expectations, we help them unlock new opportunities and reach their full potential. The Ontario curriculum values initiative and supports students in striving for Level 4 (A-A+) achievement. Your child can learn to challenge themselves and aim to exceed regular expectations, keeping their learning journey exciting and engaging.
My child is already getting good grades. Why should I consider enrolling them at The Learning Hub Academy?
Good grades are fantastic! At The Learning Hub Academy, we can help your child build on their current success by expanding their skills and challenging them to reach new heights. Our curriculum complements the Ontario Provincial curriculum while introducing different challenges that promote critical thinking and deeper learning. Enrolling your child can help them "bump it up" and take their work to the next level.
If my child is a bit behind, how long will it take to catch up to grade level?
Every learner progresses at their own pace, and our teachers are dedicated to supporting each student on their individual learning journey. We focus on helping students achieve comprehension, application, and retention of skills. While the time it takes to catch up to grade level varies, our goal is to continually move students forward and provide the support they need to reach their full potential.
Will The Learning Hub Academy duplicate my child’s curriculum?
No, our goal is not to duplicate your child’s curriculum but to enhance it. We blend the best aspects of the UK curriculum with the Ontario curriculum to offer a comprehensive learning experience. This approach allows students to master skills and concepts, fill any gaps, and benefit from a well-rounded educational experience that supports lifelong learning.
What are some tips for helping my child complete homework?
To foster good work habits and ensure success with homework, consider the following tips:
Create a Quiet Workspace: Provide a dedicated, distraction-free area with all necessary tools and supplies.
Encourage Persistence: Offer support and encouragement to help your child stay motivated and persevere through challenges.
Be an Empathetic Cheerleader: Show understanding and support, and celebrate their efforts and achievements.
Embrace Mistakes: Teach your child that mistakes are a natural part of learning and an opportunity for growth.
At The Learning Hub Academy, we believe that some fear of failure is healthy and helps build resilience. We encourage students to view mistakes as learning opportunities and to continue striving for improvement.
Why would I keep my child at The Learning Hub Academy year after year?
Learning is a continuous journey, and our curriculum is designed to build progressively from year to year. By staying with us, your child can benefit from a cumulative learning experience, where each year builds on the previous one. This ongoing support helps ensure consistent progress and growth, allowing students to deepen their understanding and reach their full potential over time.
Who works with my student at the Academy?
At The Learning Hub Academy, your child will be guided by our team of OCT-certified teachers. Our educators are dedicated to instructing and supporting students as they navigate through the UK-based curriculum workbooks. We foster and encourage independence, allowing students to build cumulative skills while regularly connecting and checking in.
Teachers provide individualized instruction and support when needed to solidify skill acquisition. By equipping students with effective strategies and tools, we help build their confidence and self-esteem, setting them up for long-term success.
Is homework an expectation at The Learning Hub Academy?
Homework is not a mandatory part of our program, but we can provide assignments to reinforce concepts if both the teacher and family agree it's beneficial. We understand that families have busy schedules and aim to alleviate stress rather than add to it. If you have specific preferences regarding homework, please feel free to contact us to discuss your needs.
